The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) European Social Fund (ESFi) Division has commissioned these guides to identify and publish good practice from the 2000–2006 ESF and Equal Programme. As equal opportunities is a central aspect of the European Social Fund, the lessons learnt and good practice based on the Equal principles of equal opportunities and empowerment identified have been gathered together to inform the 2007–2013 Programme. These good practice guides are aimed primarily but not exclusively at ESF Co-Financingi Organisations (such as DWP/Jobcentre Plus and the Learning and Skills Council – LSCi) that award ESF funding, and providers that deliver ESF projects.
