Volunteer Development
North West Network’s Volunteer Management Team long term aim is to enable volunteer involving organisations in the North West of England to develop thriving and sustainable volunteer programmes.
Currently, we do this by working with volunteer managers and volunteer infrastructure organisations through the Big Coaching Project. The Big Coaching Project provides individual and organisational development through 3 main activities:
- Coaching for volunteer managers
- Training in SAMi Volunteer Management for volunteering infrastructure organisations
- Training in outcomes focused organisational planning for voluntary sector organisations
Our approach is based on the principle that it is individuals that take forward the development of volunteering within an organisation, so our efforts are focused at the individual level. We also recognise that there is very rarely one ‘right’ way to do volunteer management and our approach is to help volunteer managers to find ways of managing volunteers that suit them and their volunteers.
North West Network are members of the European Volunteer Centre (CEV).
The European Volunteer Centre is a European umbrella association of 43 National and Regional Volunteer Centres across Europe, that together work to support and promote voluntary activity. For further information please visit their website: www.cev.be
